Oxford Preservation Trust

Environmental

Description

OPT conserves, restores and enhances land and historic buildings at risk in and around the city of Oxford. We encourage an active interest in these sites, manage them it an environmentally sensitive way and gives public access wherever possible. We also have an active involvement in all aspects of Oxford's planning process and welcome comments from Oxford inhabitants on any developments in their area. We have a busy education program and commmunity involvement scheme including our annual events Oxford Open Doors and Discovering Places. These aim to show locals and tourists the hidden side of Oxford which is normally not open to the public or has an entry charge. We are a membership organisation and have a packed programme of events throughout the year for our members and the public, including tours, walks, lectures and networking evenings. Those who join also recieve discounts at the Castle and the Victoria Arms in Marston and a free copy of our Oxford Open Doors brouchure full of information from the colleges and local experts. We rely on our members, volunteers and the generous donations we recieve as we have no other funding sources.
