USDA's National Organic Program
Description
NOP sets regulations (standards) and guidelines for organic certification. They require that agricultural products labeled as organic originate from farms or handling operations certified by a State or private entity that has been accredited by USDA.
NOP’s role is to accredit state agencies and private organizations that will certify organic producers and handlers, and to oversee enforcement of the standards.
