The environment and space you occupy all have an influence on your life as much as you can influence your surroundings, from your home to the community and beyond.

For some time now we have forgotten what living on the land really means. We live and work at speed, get caught up in consumerism, eat our way through convenience food, surround ourselves with gadgets and electronics, use up precious non renewable resources, waste energy, try to keep up with the Joneses and so on.

Feng Shui is simply the practice of living in harmony with the land.

This ancient practice uses the study of heaven (astronomy), earth (geography), human interactions & time. On a basic level Feng Shui is a tool for environment analysis. A classical Feng Shui survey assesses an individual plot & property looking at strengths and weaknesses using different methods. Practical recommendations can then be made to strengthen & harmonise the property.

The meaning of Feng Shui has become clouded since the 1980s when it was introduced to the West. It was turned into a new age marketing gimmick with false promises. The phrase Feng Shui is being abused by many and marketed as psychology and spiritualism. Interpretation is everything with new age Feng Shui and there are a thousand different people advising a thousand different Feng Shui secrets. Great to have fun with, but miles away from the true origins.
