At Mukwa Teepees, we work on the revival of this eco-friendly housing called the teepee (or tipi). Teepees do not belong to the past, and to Western movies, but rather have a lot of potential for contemporary uses.
A teepee is warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather. It is dry in rainy weather, safe in the severest windstorms, and earthquake proof. A traditional Native teepees is energy efficient, solar heated, naturally ventilated, and have air conditioning powered by the natural energies of the atmosphere! It cannot get more eco-friendly than that.
As well as a portable home, and a comfortable camping tent, a teepee can be used as an alternative house extension. Inded, it makes an ideal guest room as it is solid and weatherproof, yet easy to put, and then take down and store. Also, what better gift to offer to your guests than the priceless experience of sleeping in a real teepee?
