Clean diesels require exhaust aftertreatment systems, which often utilize supplemental air, while fuel cells require systems for primary process air and other ancillary functions.
Clean diesel emissions control systems are an immediate opportunity, driven by global regulations that mandate major reductions in particulate matter and nitrogen oxide emissions starting in 2007 and becoming progressively more stringent. Global markets for diesel emissions controls are estimated to reach $3 Billion or more annually by 2010.
Fuel cells are the ultimate clean and efficient energy source, and an opportunity that is beginning to emerge from a long and difficult gestation period. The market for fuel cell based products is expected to reach $1 Billion per year before 2010 as products enter mass production.
VAIREX products are being developed in conjunction with its customer base consisting of nearly thirty diesel and fuel cell manufacturers and system integrators in twenty countries. To support rapid scale-up in response to customer demand, VAIREX has formed a strategic partnership with Tecumseh Products, a $1.8 billion per year global manufacturer of motors, compressors and small engines.
