Fresh NewsAdaptogens: Nature's Secret Weapon Against Stress Balancing the demands of shopping, parties, family obligations, and house guests may contribute to increased tension. People may develop stress responses, such as: headaches, excessive drinking, over-eating, and difficulty sleeping. Unfortunately this stress weakens our immune system during the cold and flu season making us even more susceptible to infections.[Click here] A Soothing Cough Remedy This is a simple, soothing, highly effective herbal cough remedy. And it's so easy to make. It will store for several weeks in a jar. Simply take a tablespoon in warm water and use three times a day for relief from your cough. [Click here] Adaptogens and Nutrient Rich Herbs The common feature of the herbs in this category is that they all have non-specific, broad health benefits. They increase the body's inherent life force, increase stamina and endurance and improve the quality of physical well being. The nourishing herbs, alfalfa, kelp and bladderwrack are taken primarily for their rich nutrient content. The remaining herbs are all adaptogens. Adaptogens work primarily by affecting the Hypothalamus, Pituitary and Adrenal gland activity (HPA) and the Sympathoadrenal System (SAS). Thus, adaptogens modulate our response to stress (physical, environmental, or emotional) and help regulate the interconnected endocrine, immune, and nervous systems. Currently on the FarmWe've just completed our second full growing season using biodynamic methods, and the results are in: our Ashwagandha, Echinacea, and Astragalus harvests were the best ever! Plants were bigger, had stronger roots, and the flowers and seeds were much more bountiful than they've ever been before. And that's really saying something, because our crops were plenty healthy and robust to begin with. We have also just completed our harvest of most of our root crops, so we have a fresh supply of dried Echinacea, Ashwagandha, Dandelion, and Astragalus going into our products.
