There are very few places on Earth like
the Ruzizi Valley. The average temperature
remains around 80 degrees Fahrenheit
all year round. There is plentiful water,
rich soil and four growing seasons. However,
ten years of brutal civil war had destroyed
everything.
In 2005, the people of the Ruzizi Valley,
in partnership with Working Villages
International (WVI), an affiliate of
Food for Life Global began implementing
an innovative yet practical economic
model of sustainable village development.
A model village is literally rising
from the ashes, and include full employment,
private ownership of small farms and
businesses, zero carbon footprint and
100% recycling. The project is a practical
demonstration that it’s possible

Shun meat, says UN climate chief

People should consider eating less meat as a way of combating global warming, says the UN's top climate scientist.
Rajendra Pachauri, who chairs the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), will make the call at a speech in London on Monday evening.
UN figures suggest that meat production puts more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than transport.
