RenewableNY connects manufacturers with local energy contractors who design and install custom, cost-effective systems. Projects are designed to access all available city, state, and federal subsidies. The program assists companies to obtain an energy audit, competitively bid projects, and manage project installation.
Funding is available for energy efficient projects such as:
- solar energy systems (photovoltaics)
- energy efficient lighting
- energy efficient HVAC systems
- equipment sensors and controls
- cogeneration (combined heat and power)
- other energy efficient installations
To receive funding, a company must commit to:
- Pay 20% of the total project cost
- Provide energy bills for 1 year prior and post the project
- Stay in NYC for 4 years after the project
Funding is allocated in grants or loans, depending upon availability. Funding is capped at $75,000 per project, and is designed to assist a company to reach up to a 4 year payback on a project or to provide a below market-rate loan to pay for the cost of installation. Criteria for funding include estimated energy savings, number of employees, and other considerations.
If you are interested in the receiving funding, please fill out an energy intake form and return it to NYIRN.
The North Brooklyn Energy Grant Program was initiated as part of the effort to retain industrial businesses and jobs in North Brooklyn, and is supported by the City Council and the Mayor.
The North Brooklyn Energy Grant Program awards grants to manufacturers in Community District 1 in Brooklyn to reduce and stabilize energy costs through the installation of energy conservation measures.
In 2007, NYIRN awarded grants to 21 companies employing a total of 1,458 New Yorkers. Grants were used for projects ranging from lighting upgrades to the installation of cogeneration units. As a result of the North Brooklyn Energy Grant Program, over 2 MW of energy was taken off the grid.
